DEA NATIONAL DRUG TAKE BACK DAY

The Potter County Sheriff’s Office participates in the biannual DEA National Take Back Initiative in the spring and the fall.  Some of the most abused drugs in the United States are prescription and over the counter drugs.  One reason for this is because they are easy for young kids to find in medicine cabinets, bedrooms or purses.  The drug epidemic in the U.S. is leading to overdoses and overdose’ deaths daily.  The Potter County Sheriff’s Office has taken the initiative to combat this epidemic by encouraging our community to remove any unneeded medications from their homes as a measure of preventing medication misuse.

If you have any unused and/or expired over-the-counter or prescription medicines that you need to get rid of, please click on the link above to find the next date of the DEA National Take Back Day.  On those days, bring your items to the Santa Fe Building on 9th and S. Polk using the main entrance on 9th and a deputy will show you to the storage box.  We ask that you do not bring anything with needles, any kind of aerosol can or any inhaler.

A permanent drug box is always located at the Detention Center at 13100 NE 29th and available 24/7.
