OFF DUTY MANAGEMENT

This information will familiarize you with the procedures necessary to hire an off-duty deputy from the Potter County Sheriff's Office. Some of the jobs off-duty deputies typically do are event security, traffic control at construction sites, security at restaurants, security at various businesses such as grocery stores, country clubs, etc, traffic control at churches, security at apartment communities and security at school functions.

REQUIREMENTS

Advance notice of at least 48 hours is required for the hiring of a deputy.
A 24 hours notice in writing is required in the canceling of the job. Deputies canceled with less than 24 hours notice will be paid for 4 hours minimum.

RESTRICTIONS

We cannot hire out deputies to work jobs where their authority as a peace deputy is restricted.
Requests for employment where the primary purpose is related to the sale, manufacture, transportation, consumption of alcoholic beverages or anything related to a sexually-oriented business is strictly prohibited.

RATES

The current rate of pay is $62.15 per hour, plus tax with a four-hour minimum. If more than three deputies are requested for the job, the fourth deputy must be a supervisor. The supervisor's current rate of pay is $73.45 per hour, plus tax with a four-hour minimum.
Vehicle rates are $11.30 per hour, plus tax.
If you are a non-profit tax-exempt entity, you will need to have a copy of your tax certificate on file with Off Duty Management.
